How does List Hiker tune up my activity records?
Real recordings arrive imperfect: a watch keeps running on the drive home, the same hike comes in from two services, an old paper log has a smudged date. Tune-Up sorts that out — mostly before you ever see it.
Handled automatically
- Duplicates merged — the same hike from your watch and from Strava becomes one activity, not two.
- Split recordings joined — stopped and restarted at the col? The pieces become one hike, and the totals add up.
- Stray track trimmed — the drive home, or a point picked up hours before you set out, so the date and distance come out right.
- Accidental recordings removed — a few seconds, no peaks, from starting a watch by mistake.
- Spreadsheet entries reconciled — typed rows are checked against your recorded activities, so a date that disagrees with a real hike gets caught.
What it asks you about
Some things only you know, so Tune-Up doesn't guess. Anything waiting shows up as "Needs your OK", in two groups:
- Suggested — clear-cut fixes, already selected. One click accepts them all.
- Your call — genuinely ambiguous, like two overlapping tracks on the same day. You get what it found, one question, and the options. Deciding later is always one of them.
Merges can be undone from the activity's page whenever you like, and your progress recalculates on the spot. Deleted duplicates are the one permanent action.
Tune-Up runs on its own after every load or sync — you can turn that off under Preferences in Account settings. To run it yourself, use tune up on My Activities.
