Mount Percival rises to 2,200 feet in the Squam Range of New Hampshire's Lakes Region, offering open ledge views over Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee that belie its modest elevation. From the rocky summit, the panorama takes in both lakes, the Belknap Range to the east, the Ossipee Hills, and the higher peaks of the Sandwich Range and White Mountains to the north.
The peak is most commonly reached as part of a loop with neighboring Mount Morgan, roughly 5 miles with 1,500 feet of gain from trailheads on Route 113 in Holderness. The Mount Percival Trail climbs 1.9 miles through mixed forest before breaking into open terrain. Just below the top, a signed junction offers two choices: the cliff route, which follows exposed ledges, or the caves route, which threads through tight boulder squeezes with light Class 3 scrambling on solid granite. Large packs can complicate the cave passage. The full loop continues over to Morgan, descending via wooden ladders bolted into the cliff face, a memorable feature that requires no technical climbing skill.
The trail corridor lies within the Burleigh Land LP conservation easement, protected by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust since 2007. Trailhead parking is plowed in winter, making the peaks accessible year-round, though the caves and ledges demand extra caution when icy.
