Mount Resolution (3,426 ft) occupies a forested highpoint on the Montalban Ridge, south of Crawford Notch in the White Mountain National Forest. The true summit is wooded with no views, marked by a cairn just off the main trail, but the rocky ledges nearby take in wide panoramas of the Presidential Range, the Pemigewasset Wilderness, and the Sandwich Range; the combination earns the peak a place on the NH 52 With a View list.
The most popular approach links Resolution with Mount Crawford and Stairs Mountain via the Davis Path, a strenuous ~10.5-mile route from a trailhead on Route 302 near the Notchland Inn. The first two miles of Davis Path climb roughly 2,000 feet on stone steps and rooted terrain before the ridge levels into rolling forest. From the Mount Parker Trail junction the final push to Resolution covers about 0.4 miles, passing slick rock slabs that demand care in wet or icy conditions. An out-and-back via Mount Langdon and Mount Parker Trails offers an alternative approach from the east, covering about 12 miles with 2,700 feet of gain.
Snow and ice can cling to shaded sections of Davis Path into late spring. Late June through October provides the most reliable footing; October brings vivid foliage in the Saco River valley visible from the approach and descent.
