No marked trail reaches this summit, so it is a bushwhack, and a good one for hikers comfortable with navigation. The usual approach parks at the end of Denning Road, follows the yellow-blazed logging road for about 1.2 miles, then joins the blue-blazed Peekamoose-Table Trail before the Neversink Fisherman's Path leads along the river. The climb leaves that path near Donovan Brook. Route choices vary with conditions and navigation, and hikers should expect steep pitches, dense evergreens to shoulder through, rocks and blowdown. The Rocky and Lone loop shows how hikers commonly pair it with its neighbor.
Hardwoods dominate the summit, the canister is there to sign, and a small opening just south of it looks toward Rocky, Table and Peekamoose. Taking Lone first and then Rocky is a 7.4-mile round trip with 1,591 feet of gain.
The canister can take some hunting among the trees. On the way out, do not miss the footbridge, since the river gets deeper downstream. The peak sits within the Slide Mountain Wilderness, and its western slopes drain into Donovan Brook and the Neversink system.
