The Denning Road approach starts on a flat carriage road, drops to cross the East Branch of the Neversink River on two bridges, then follows the blue-blazed Peekamoose-Table Trail over Table Mountain to this summit. The trip is 4.55 miles one way with 1,749 feet of gain, and after a big storm the river crossing can be unpassable. The Peekamoose Road approach is an 8.7-mile round trip that also takes in Table, with a view at Reconnoiter Rock 2.3 miles in.
The summit does not offer many views, and a large glacial erratic marks it. The outlooks come on the way up: ledges near 3,500 feet and another about 0.85 mile below the top look south, and a viewpoint about 50 feet past the summit rock frames Lone, Rocky, Balsam Cap and Friday to the east.
The route follows an old logging road at first, then narrows to single-track all the way to the top. The Bouton Memorial Lean-to sits on the Table side of the trail. A spring near it can run dry during droughts, so carry water.
