Catskill 3500 Club
cat3500The Catskill 3500-Footers encompass all peaks in New York’s Catskill range of at least 3,500' elevation and certain prominence rules. The list currently includes 33 out of the original 35 peaks, as two of the original peaks are on private property and have therefore been retired. Two peaks, Slide and Hunter are over 4,000' so they also appear on the Northeast 115. Many of the Catskill 3500s are “bushwhacks” with no official trail, however herd paths are generally relatively easy to follow. In addition to the retired peaks, many peaks closely abut private property, please plan your hikes carefully to avoid trespassing on private land without permission.
The Catskill 3500 Club is an organization whose members have climbed all peaks on the list, and also re-hiked Slide, Blackhead, Balsam, and Panther in winter. A winter-only patch is also available. The 3500 Club counts winter hikes on a calendar basis (Dec 21 - Mar 21 inclusive) unlike the Appalachian Mountain Club which uses astronomical season boundaries for the Northeast 115; carefully plan the timings of your winter ascents to get credit for both lists.
